The modern history of vicuña begins with a fiber so luxurious and rare that, in ancient times, only Incan royalty were allowed to wear it. Revered as the "fiber of the gods," this extraordinary material is harvested from the vicuña- a small, wild camelid native to the high-altitude Andes Mountains of South America.

Vicuña: a rich history and unique characteristics that contribute to its exclusivity.

The high Andes mountains are spectacular. However, they are a place where both humans and wildlife are challenged to survive. The tradition of Chaku has been resurrected. Chaku is a traditional, substainable method of capturing and shearing Vicuña in the Andes.
